SipUp is a Bay Area-based, community-centered events and educational platform dedicated to celebrating diversity, elevating underrepresented voices, and creating meaningful connections through shared experiences.
Through thoughtfully curated gatherings that blend entertainment, education, philanthropy, and social engagement, SipUp brings people together to celebrate culture, discover new perspectives, and support causes that strengthen our communities.
From intimate gatherings and cultural celebrations to nonprofit fundraisers and beverage experiences, SipUp creates welcoming spaces where curiosity is encouraged, differences are celebrated, and everyone has a place at the table.
Our Mission
We believe storytelling, culture, and community have the power to inspire positive change. SipUp is committed to creating opportunities for collaboration, cultural representation, and community empowerment.
A central part of our mission is partnering with nonprofit organizations whose work aligns with our values, developing creative fundraising experiences that generate financial support, raise awareness, and bring communities closer to the causes that matter to them.
We also remain dedicated to elevating women, BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and other historically underrepresented makers and creators. Through beverage education, cultural experiences, and storytelling, we celebrate the people, traditions, and journeys behind their work while making participation welcoming and inclusive for everyone.
The Story...
SipUp grew from my time working in the wine and food industry and my deep roots in Oakland. During that time, I became increasingly aware of how few platforms intentionally showcased BIPOC, women, LGBTQ+, and other underrepresented beverage makers—not only their craft, but the stories, cultures, and journeys behind what they create.
I wanted to build something that could help change that. What began as an idea to introduce people to overlooked makers and unfamiliar beverages gradually grew into a much broader vision: creating experiences that bring people together, celebrate diverse perspectives, and support the communities that make those experiences meaningful.
As SipUp evolved, so did my understanding of what inclusion should mean. It isn’t only about whose work we showcase, but who gets to participate. That means offering thoughtfully crafted alcohol-free beverages alongside wine, beer, and cider, and creating gatherings where people of different backgrounds, interests, and experiences feel genuinely welcome.
Today, SipUp is taking shape as a platform for community connection, cultural discovery, and purposeful collaboration. Whether we’re sharing a maker’s story, hosting a nonprofit fundraiser, or introducing people to something they’ve never experienced before, the intention remains the same: make more room at the table.
